Newport
Newport is derives its name from the fact that Caerleon was the main port on the river Usk. As seafaring vessels became bigger they could not navigate the river Usk all the way up to Caerleon and a new port had to be formed – Newport. Newport is today the third-largest city in Wales and home to the internationally renowned Celtic Manor Resort. Golf aficionados from all over the world flock to participate in Celtic Manor Wales Open and the resort has been chosen to arrange the 2010 Ryder Cup.
