UK LAW SITES » 2. Wales » Bargoed BargoedLocated in the lush Rhymney Valley, Bargoed straddles the border between Glamorgan and Monmouthshire and the name Bargoed actually means ‘border’ in Welsh. Bargoed originated as a market town and continued as such until a colliery was opened here in the early 1900s. The colliery closed in the 1980s and the colliery site has now been turned into a popular country park.
