Stirling
A former capital of the Kingdom of Scotland, Stirling is an ancient burgh clustered around its impressive castle and with an old-town that has managed to retain a lot of its medieval character. Stirling was granted city status as a part of Queen Elizabeth's Golden Jubilee, and is with its 40,000 inhabitants the smallest city in Scotland. Stirling is a popular tourist destination and serves as a centre for retail and light industry.
