Kingston upon Hull

Australian author Peter Porter described this city as "the most poetic city in the United Kingdom" and why is certainly not hard to see. A majority of Kingston upon Hull – commonly referred to simply as Hull – is actually located below sea level and depends on the Hull Tidal Surge Barrier for its survival. Hull is also the only UK city to have its own independent telephone network company and cream colored telephone boxes can be found throughout the city.
