England is the most populous constituent country of the United Kingdom and is home to over 85% of the total UK population. The Kingdom of England was a separate state up until 1707 when it formed a political union with the Kingdom of Scotland, thus creating the Kingdom of Great Britain. Today, England's economy is the second largest economy in Europe and 100 of Europe's 500 biggest corporations are London based.
